DEA, PRPD Arrest Two Individuals, Seize Crack, Cocaine, Guns, Automatic Rifles And Ammunition
SAN JUAN, PUERTO RICO - Javier F. Peña, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement (DEA), Caribbean Division, announced the arrest of two individuals in possession crack, cocaine of multiple firearms and ammunition.
On April 9, 2011, Mancio VICENTE-Lucas and Josue DIAZ-Bermudez were arrested by DEA and PRPD Agents in possession of 749 small individual bags of crack-cocaine, 75 small bags of cocaine, drug paraphernalia, several automatic rifles, guns, ammunitions and magazines.
The firearms seized were described as follows:
- One Carbon-15 Pistol Caliber 5.56 NATO,
- One Glock Pistol, Model 17, Caliber 9mm,
- One FN Herstal Belgium aka “Cop Killer” with an Extended 5.7 X 28 Magazine
- One Draco Rifle
- One ARM Semi Automatic Rifle 7.62 X 39 Egypt
- One Glock 21 .45 Automatic
- One XD-9 Handgun
The defendants were charged with violations of Title 21 United States Code, Section 841, (possession with intent to distribute narcotics) and Title 18 United States Code, Section (c), (possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.) Assistant U.S. Attorney Justin Martin of the District of Puerto Rico authorized the Criminal Complaint. The defendants were booked in the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Metropolitan Detention Center, Guaynabo, PR pending their initial appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge scheduled for April 11, 2011.
The public is reminded that a criminal complaint contains only charges and is not evidence of guilt. The defendants are presumed innocent and are entitled to a fair trial and the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
The DEA High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Ponce Resident Office and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Puerto Rico are investigating this case.
