Member of Iron Horsemen Sentenced for
Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine
National President of Iron Horsemen Motorcycle Club also Sentenced in Related Case

SEP 7 -- LOUISVILLE, KY - Dean Keith Hamblin, age 32, of 701 Henson Road, Smithland, Kentucky, in Livingston County, was sentenced on September 5, 2007, to five years imprisonment in United States District Court, Louisville, Kentucky, for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, U.S. Attorney David L. Huber of the Western District of Kentucky announced today. Charles R. Simpson III, Judge, United States District Court, also sentenced Hamblin to four years supervised release following incarceration. There is no parole in the federal judicial system.

Hamblin had pleaded guilty to conspiring with other persons, including at least one other member of the Iron Horsemen Motorcycle Club, to distribute methamphetamine in Livingston County and elsewhere in the Western District of Kentucky. Hamblin admitted he was personally responsible for the distribution of between 50 and 200 grams of methamphetamine, which has a street value of approximately $100 per gram.

Hamblin had been charged, by Indictment filed December 6, 2005, along with several other defendants, all of whom were either members of or closely associated with the Iron Horsemen, with conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine in the Western District of Kentucky during the period from December, 2003, to December, 2005. One of the other defendants, Gary Lee York, previously pleaded guilty and has been sentenced to ten years imprisonment. Another defendant, David Lee Richerson, who was the National President of the Iron Horsemen during the period of the conspiracy, was sentenced today in a related case to 21 months imprisonment for misprision of felony but remains under indictment for conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine, along with the other defendants, Dwayne Scott Hawk, Derl Sebastian Hawk, Stanley Todd Phillips, Ed Wiggins, and Eddie G. Whitlow, all of whom are scheduled for trial on October 29, 2007, in Louisville, Kentucky. If convicted as charged with conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, all defendants face sentences of ten years to life imprisonment.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Larry Fentress, and it was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration.
