Operation Royal Flush Nets 24 Arrests in New Jersey
MAR 19 -- (NEWARK) Gerard P. McAleer, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) New Jersey Division along with Hudson County Prosecutor Edward J. De Fazio, and United States Attorney, District of New Jersey, Christopher J. Christie, announced the federal and state arrests of 24 individuals as part of a six-month joint narcotics investigation.
The investigation dubbed “Operation Royal Flush” received its name from the hip-hop recording studio named “Block Royal” located at 114 Christopher Columbus Drive in Jersey City. Business owners and close associates of Block Royal were among those arrested in the investigation. Police believed that Block Royal was a front for an illicit drug enterprise dealing in heroin, powder cocaine, and crack cocaine. Among those arrested were Block Royal president and founder, Fabian Orriols, Age 41, from Jersey City. Orriols was found in possession of 100 “bricks” of heroin or the equivalent of 100 grams with an estimated street value of $75,000.00. Drug Enforcement Administration Special Agents, Hudson County Task Force Detectives, and Jersey City Police Detectives also seized over 700 grams of powder cocaine and crack-cocaine, $30,000.00 in cash proceeds, four handguns, hollow point ammunition, a bulletproof vest, and four vehicles throughout Hudson County. The arrests took place between the months of December 2006 and February 2007.
Gerard P. McAleer, Special Agent in Charge, DEA New Jersey Division stated, “This successful operation is yet another example of combined federal, state, county, and local efforts to remove drug traffickers from wherever they pursue their trade, and to make the community a safer place.”
According to Prosecutor De Fazio, “This complex investigation is another example of the successful teamwork exhibited by all the law enforcement agencies involved.”
"This was a highly successful investigation which took down a large group of individuals," said U.S. Attorney Christopher J. Christie. "These drug organizations ruin lives, scar neighborhoods and breed gun violence. It's good to see another one put out of business. Congratulations to Prosecutor DeFazio and all those -- whether state, federal or local law enforcement -- who contributed to the success of the investigation."
