Chicago Man Arrested For Allegedly Being An Accessory To A Drug Facilitated Murder

Mark R. Trouville, Special Agent in Charge, Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Miami Field Division, Paul I. Perez, U.S. Attorney, Middle District of Florida, Mark Ober, State Attorney for the Florida Thirteenth Judicial Circuit, Tampa Police Chief Stephen Hogue and Hillsborough County Sheriff David Gee announced the arrest of Scott Paul Schweickert, on a complaint that charges him as an accessory after the fact related to a drug facilitated crime of violence, contrary to the provisions of Title 18, U.S. Code, Section 3, and Title 21, U.S. Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(7). If convicted, Schweickert faces 10 years' imprisonment. Schweickert made an initial appearance before a U.S. Magistrate and waived a detention hearing. Schweickert will remain in custody till trial.

On February 15, 2005, a federal grand jury sitting in the Middle District of Florida, returned a superceding indictment, charging Steven Lorenzo, of Tampa, with seven counts of drug facilitated crimes of violence, contrary to the provisions of Title 21, U.S. Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 841(b)(7). Lorenzo is currently detained and scheduled for trial in October 2005. If convicted, Lorenzo faces a maximum term of 20 year' imprisonment as to each count.

This investigation was conducted by the DEA Tampa District Office of the Miami Field Division, the Tampa Police Department, and the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. Also assisting was the State Attorney's Office for the Thirteenth Judicial Circuit.
