Jeffrey B. Wheat Sentenced To 20 Years Imprisonment

The Gulfport, MS. Office of the Drug Enforcement Administration and the U.S. Attorney’s office for the Southern District of Mississippi announced today that JEFFREY B. WHEAT, age 37 of Picayune, Mississippi, was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment by United States Senior District Judge Walter J. Gex III in federal court in Gulfport, Mississippi.

Wheat had previously pled guilty to Conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine. The two year investigation of Wheat revealed that he and other members of a methamphetamine organization were responsible for the manufacture and distribution of multiple kilograms of methamphetamine, and that the drug was being trafficked between eastern Louisiana and south Mississippi. The investigation of other members within the organization is still ongoing.

Wheat was a 12 year law enforcement veteran and a member of the Picayune Police Department until 2001. The investigating agencies included the Picayune Police Department, the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Drug Enforcement Administration.
