DEA Activates "Pill Mill" Tip Line
MIAMI, FL. - Drug Enforcement (DEA), Miami Field Division Special Agent in Charge Mark R. Trouville announces the activation of a “pill mill” tip line. Over the last year, Operation Pill Nation investigators made hundreds of undercover purchases of prescription drugs from doctors in South Florida rogue pain clinics. The first arrests made in this operation created a great deal of media attention and also resulted in many community members calling DEA and local media to provide information regarding “pill mills.”
The DEA has established a 24 hour, toll free “pill mill” tip line and email address. The toll free number is 888-954-4662 and the email address is Florida.Pill.Mill.Tips@USDOJ.GOV.
Callers should leave their contact information and the names of any doctors or clinics they are calling about.
Agencies participating in Operation Pill Nation are the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, Broward Sheriff’s Office, the Miami Dade Police Department, U.S. Internal Revenue Service, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Fort Lauderdale Police Department, Hollywood Police Department, Palm Beach Gardens Police Department, Florida Department of Financial Services Division of Insurance Fraud, Florida Department of Health, and Florida Highway Patrol. Operation Pill Nation investigations are being prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office, Palm Beach State Attorney’s Office, Miami Dade State Attorney’s Office and Broward County State Attorney’s Office.
