Man Arrested In Hammondsport, New York With More Than Two Pounds Of Cocaine
ROCHESTER, NY. - John P. Gilbride, Special Agent-in-Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New York Field (DEA) and Joel R. Ordway, Steuben County Sheriff”s Office announced the arrest of an Hammondsport man after a year-long investigation into drug trafficking in the central Steuben County area.
Vincent S. Long, age 48, of West Lake Road Hammondsport was taken into custody late yesterday in a vehicle stop in Monroe County by Rochester based DEA agents. At the time Long was stopped, agents found more than two pounds of powder cocaine in his possession for distribution in the Rochester area.
Long was arrested on a Steuben County Superior Court warrant for Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the second degree, a class “A” felony; Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, a class “B” felony and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the third degree, both class “B” felonies.
“Whether in the suburbs or in the city drug trafficking by anyone - in any amount - will not be tolerated . This individual was investigated and arrested for his illegal cocaine distribution network in the Rochester area,” stated DEA SAC John P. Gilbride. Mr. Gilbride would like to thank all the agencies involved in this investigation and the DEA Rochester Resident Office for their diligent work.
The Steuben County Grand Jury handed up sealed indictments which resulted in the Superior Court warrants earlier this year. Additional charges are pending against Long for the possession of cocaine which occurred on August 30, 2011.
Long was arraigned on August 31, 2011 at 11:00AM before Steuben County Court Judge Maryanne Furfure. Steuben County Assistant District Attorney Brooks Baker (and Judge Furfure ordered) $500,000 cash or $1 million property bond.
The investigation was conducted by the Rochester Drug Enforcement Administration, Steuben County Sheriff’s Office, Bath and Corning Police Departments, and the Steuben County District Attorney’s Office.
