New Jersey Man Sentenced To Three Years In Federal Prison For Trafficking Oxycodone
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - - John J. Arvanitis, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration for New England and Deirdre M. Daly, Acting United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that Julio Brinez, 43, of Palisades Park, N.J., was sentenced today by Senior United States District Judge Warren W. Eginton in Bridgeport to 36 months of imprisonment, followed by three years of supervised release, for trafficking oxycodone.
This matter stems from a year-long investigation headed by the DEA’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and Norwalk Police Department into the trafficking of oxycodone, cocaine and marijuana in Fairfield County. On three occasions in March 2012, Brinez was intercepted over a court-authorized wiretap engaging in discussions involving the illegal distribution of oxycodone.
Brinez was arrested on June 22, 2012 and, on January 3, 2013, he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiring to possess with intent to distribute oxycodone. He has been detained since January 22, 2013 after he violated the conditions of his bond.
Sixteen individuals have been charged as a result of this investigation.
This matter is being investigated by the DEA’s Bridgeport High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area Task Force and the Norwalk Police Department, with assistance provided by the Connecticut State Police and the Bridgeport, Stamford and Stratford Police Departments.
