TAMPA, Fla. - U.S. District Judge James D. Whittemore yesterday sentenced Ricky (45) to 20 years in federal prison for distribution of methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine.  Muoio was found guilty by a jury on November 6, 2013.

According to court documents, and testimony and evidence presented at trial, on April 11, 2013, a confidential source working with the Drug Enforcement (DEA) purchased two ounces of methamphetamine for $3,000 from Muoio, at his residence in Lakeland. On April 24, 2013, DEA agents executed a federal search warrant at the residence. In one of the bedrooms, they found and seized a total of approximately 1.5 ounces of methamphetamine, $3,500 in cash and a digital scale.           

This investigation was conducted by the DEA, and it was prosecuted by United States Attorney's Office for the Middle District.
