DEA Prescription Drug Take-Back Numbers
DALLAS - The final tally is in from the 10th National Prescription Take-Back Day this past Saturday, September 26, 2015. DEA and its partners took back prescription drugs at 127 locations throughout North Texas and Oklahoma.
The NTBI was an all-day event. A total of 27,477 pounds or 12.4 tons of drugs were turned into the collection boxes in both states.
“I am so proud of our team and our law enforcement partners”, says DEA Dallas Special Agent in Charge Craig M. Wiles. “I am and I have always been an out-front believer of the National Take Back Initiative and today's results demonstrate the need for us to continue this program. We made a difference today and we won this day. We thank all our law enforcement partners in North Texas and Oklahoma in this great effort.”
Other participants in this initiative include North Texas and Oklahoma local law enforcement (police and Sheriff’s offices), military bases, public school enforcement departments, tribal partner police departments, and various anti-drug community coalitions.
