Report fraudulent and suspicious pharmaceutical activities anonymously through the DEA San Diego RxAbuse Tip Line
SAN DIEGO – The Drug Enforcement Administration San Diego Field Division is announcing the RxAbuse Tip Line for the public to report suspicious, fraudulent, and illegal pharmaceutical activities. Tips can include information about doctors or pharmacists who are illegally dispensing medications, as well as information about people who are doctor shopping or pill seeking for illegal purposes.
The vast majority of medical professionals prescribe and dispense medications to patients for legitimate medical purposes, however there are those who try to operate outside the law for their own gain. These individuals are a threat to the public, and the DEA needs your assistance identifying these offenders. The RxAbuse Tip Line will allow members of the public to speak directly to a DEA representative, with the option of remaining completely anonymous.
“The purpose of this tip line is to allow the San Diego community to feel comfortable submitting any and all information they have on bad actors,” said Evangela Dortch, the Diversion Program Manager in San Diego. “We hope that these tips will lead to further identification of doctors, pharmacists, and pill seekers who are fueling the opioid crisis that we are currently experiencing. If you know of someone who is illegally obtaining or dispensing pills, please call and report them to help make this community that we all love a little safer.”
To report a tip directly to a DEA representative, call (571) 324-6499. DEA also offers an online reporting tool for pharmaceutical activities on the DEA Diversion Control Division’s website: https://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/. Click on “Report Illicit Pharmaceutical Activities.”
