Indianapolis Pharmacy Technician Charged with Controlled Substances Violations
INDIANAPOLIS - A joint investigation by Drug Enforcement Administration-Indianapolis and the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) has led to the arrest of Zennon Gaines, a pharmacy technician from Indianapolis, who has been charged with multiple violations, including felony dealing and possession of a controlled substance by fraud/forgery.
The joint investigation by DEA Indianapolis and IMPD was initiated following a notification from a pharmacy employee, who reported observing Gaines divert pharmaceutical pills from the pharmacy. Gaines admitted to diverting pills from the pharmacy over a period of several months. He also consented to a search of his vehicle, which led to the recovery of approximately 775 pharmaceutical pills.
The joint DEA/IMPD investigation is focused on preventing, detecting and investigating the diversion of pharmaceutical controlled substances and listed chemicals from the legitimate pharmaceutical supply chain.
The defendant is presumed innocent and entitled to a fair trial, at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
