Tallahassee Man Indicted for Possessing Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
OCALA, Fla. – United States Attorney Roger B. Handberg announced the return of an indictment charging Brian Keith Coleman (33, Tallahassee) with possession of 50 grams or more of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute it. If convicted, Coleman faces a minimum mandatory term of 10 years, up to life, in federal prison.
According to court documents, a trooper with the Florida Highway Patrol found Coleman’s vehicle broken down on the shoulder of the interstate and, after a probable cause search of the vehicle, found methamphetamine, fentanyl, and marijuana. The trooper also found half a kilogram of methamphetamine where Coleman had been when the trooper first arrived on scene.
This case was investigated by Drug Enforcement Administration, the Tallahassee Police Department, and the Florida Highway Patrol. It will be prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.
An indictment is merely a formal charge that a defendant has committed one or more violations of federal criminal law, and every defendant is presumed innocent unless, and until, proven guilty.
