OMAHA, Neb. –Members of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Omaha Division will connect with community members in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota, Tuesday, August 6, at National Night Out events providing educational resources on the dangers of drug use and experimentation.
National Night Out began in 1984 as a way to encourage relationships between communities and members of law enforcement. This year, more than 17,000 neighborhoods across the nation are scheduled to host events including 293 locations throughout the five state DEA Omaha Division.
“National Night Out provides a tremendous opportunity for DEA to talk about drug trends impacting our immediate communities,” DEA Omaha Division Special Agent in Charge Steven T. Bell said. “Our agents avert threats such as fentanyl, methamphetamine and cocaine on a routine basis. We’re grateful for the chance to visit with the people we serve and provide education on how to avoid the damaging effects drugs pose on a community.”
