DEA New Orleans Accepting Applications for Citizens Academy
NEW ORLEANS - The Drug Enforcement Administration New Orleans Division is accepting applications for the 2024 Citizens Academy.
The 2024 Citizens Academy is a four-week dynamic training program that enables civilians from local communities to gain an understanding of DEA's critical mission and work.
Some of the intended objectives of the program include:
- an increased community awareness of the DEA's law enforcement and demand reduction efforts,
- newly developed relationships with public and private individuals and organizations,
- an established and qualified pool of trained community liaisons.
The DEA's Citizens Academy is taught by DEA executives, Special Agents, Intelligence Analysts, and other DEA professionals.
Potential candidates must be business, civil, religious, or community leaders who have no prior felony convictions, can pass a background check, live or work within the Greater New Orleans area, and can commit to the entire training schedule.
The 2024 Citizens Academy will meet at the DEA New Orleans Field Division Office, 3838 N. Causeway Blvd, Metairie, on the following dates:
- Thursday, Oct. 10 (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.),
- Thursday, Oct. 17 (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.),
- Thursday, Oct. 24 (12 p.m. to 2 p.m.) *Class will be held in Slidell, LA. Exact location TBA.
- Wednesday, Oct. 30 (6 p.m. to 8 p.m.),
- Tuesday, Nov. 4 (5 p.m. to 6 p.m.) *Graduation.
