SAC Davis

Michael A. Davis is the Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s St. Louis Division. Mr. Davis oversees the DEA’s enforcement, intelligence, administrative and regulatory activities throughout Missouri, Kansas, and Southern Illinois. The St. Louis Division is comprised of nine offices and approximately 300 Special Agents, Diversion Investigators, Intelligence Analysts, Task Force Officers, professional staff and contractors.

In February 1999, Mr. Davis began his career with DEA. Upon graduating from the DEA Basic Agent Training Academy in June 1999, Mr. Davis was assigned to the St. Louis Division Office and remained there until August 2002. In August 2002, Mr. Davis was transferred to the Charlotte Regional Enforcement Team where he served from August 2002 to September 2004. In September 2004, Mr. Davis transferred to the Indianapolis District Office where he served as a senior special agent until July 2009. In August 2009, Mr. Davis was promoted to Group Supervisor and transferred to the Little Rock District Office, where he was charged with supervising a High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force.

From 2015 until 2017, Mr. Davis was assigned to DEA Headquarters’ Office of Inspections, where he served as both an Inspector and a Senior Inspector. The team, led by Mr. Davis inspected DEA’s domestic, foreign, and headquarters offices to determine compliance with Department of Justice and DEA policies and procedures.

From November 2017 to December 2019, Mr. Davis served as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge at the Los Angeles HIDTA-Southern California Drug Task Force. There, Mr. Davis managed an Office of National Drug Control Policy grant in the amount of $3.84 million and supervised five groups that operated in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.

In January 2020, Mr. Davis was appointed to the Senior Executive Service as the Deputy Special Agent in Charge of the Los Angeles Division. In that position, he was responsible for the Los Angeles Division Diversion Control Program, the Los Angeles HIDTA - Southern California Drug Task Force, the Honolulu District Office, Las Vegas District Office, Reno Resident Office, Guam Resident Office, and the Saipan Post of Duty.

In February 2022, Mr. Davis was selected as the SAC of the St. Louis Division.

Mr. Davis is a native of Starkville, Mississippi, and graduated from Southeast Missouri State University. Prior to his work at the DEA, Mr. Davis was a police officer from 1994 until 1999, serving with the Alton Police Department, and later, the Phoenix Police Department.
