Atlantic City Investigation Leads to Arrest and Recovery of Guns and Drugs.
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ - The Drug Enforcement Administration - New Jersey Field Division (DEA NJFD) and the Atlantic City Police Department (ACPD) recently concluded a cooperative investigation leading to the arrest of an Atlantic City resident and the recovery of guns and drugs.
On November 15, 2023, detectives of the Special Investigations Section and the DEA NJFD Liberty Mid-Atlantic DEA Atlantic County HIDTA Task Force executed a court authorized residential search warrant in the first block of south Bellevue Avenue. The detectives were assisted by members of the Atlantic City Police Department SWAT Team.
The search warrant was the culmination of a month-long investigation into the distribution of illegal narcotics. The department has received numerous complaints from residents and businesses regarding the possession and distribution of narcotics in the area that have impacted the quality of life for those on the block.
The target of the investigation, Altyriek Warren, of Atlantic City, was arrested inside the residence. During the search, detectives recovered two loaded handguns, distribution amounts of cocaine and heroin, and paraphernalia used in the distribution of narcotics. Warren also had an active warrant for his arrest.
Altyriek Warren, 34, is charged with: Unlawful possession of a weapon (two counts), certain person not to possess a weapon (two counts), possession of a weapon while committing a CDS offense, possession of CDS (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute (two counts), possession of CDS with intent to distribute within 1,000 feet of a school zone (two counts), and possession of CDS paraphernalia.
Warren was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
The case was led by ACPD Detective Will Herrerias who is currently assigned to the HIDTA Task Force.
The public is reminded that charges are mere allegations, and the accused is considered innocent until proven guilty.
