Brevard County Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Cocaine Offense
Orlando, Fla. – Senior U.S. District Judge Gregory A. Presnell has sentenced Jackie Jamal Hines, 47, of Melbourne, Fla., to 10 years in federal prison for possessing with intent to distribute multiple kilograms of cocaine. Hines pleaded guilty on May 30, 2024.
According to court documents, a traffic stop was attempted on a vehicle Hines was driving after he left his storage unit in Melbourne. Hines exited his vehicle and fled on foot from law enforcement. Once he was detained, officers found a bag containing more than 300 grams of cocaine and two digital scales. A search warrant was then obtained for the storage unit, where agents located a safe with five pressed bricks containing about a kilogram each of cocaine.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Melbourne Police Department. It was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida.
