Over One Million Dollars Worth Of Marijuana Seized In Otsego, New York
OTSEGO, NY. - Special Agent in Charge of the New York Field Division United States Drug Enforcement (DEA) John P. Gilbride, Otsego County Sheriff Richard J. Devlin, Jr and Otsego County District Attorney John M. Muehl announce the arrest of three individuals following a joint investigation between the DEA and OCSO.
On January 7, 2011, the DEA and OCSO seized 183 pounds of hydroponic marihuana, 72 hydrocodone tablets, 26 oxycodone tablets and three long guns as from 196 Head Road. Approximately two pounds of marihuana and small quantities of ketamine, psilocybin mushrooms and hashish were also seized from 124 Boughton Road by law enforcement. Both of the addresses were rented by Lucas and are in the Town of Worcester, NY.
Investigation revealed that Scott and Glover, both of who are from northern California, conspired to deliver the 183 pound of marihuana to Lucas’ residence on Head Road. Lucas, a two time convicted felon, was arrested for possessing the marihuana after it was delivered and for possessing two shotguns and a rifle inside of his residence. Lucas faces several additional felony criminal possession of controlled substances charges for possessing the prescription medications when he reappears in the Worcester Court.
During the investigation over $154,000 in U.S. currency was seized as a result of the arrests of Lucas, Glover and Scott and searches conducted by the DEA and OCSO.
DEA Special Agent in Charge John P. Gilbride stated, “Throughout this investigation, over one million dollars worth of marijuana, diverted prescription drugs and hallucinogens were seized, three individuals were arrested, several guns were taken off the street and over $150,000 of drug proceeds was seized. It is only through coordinated efforts such as this will law enforcement be successful in dismantling drug trafficking organizations operating across state boundaries.”
Sheriff Richard J. Devlin said “This operation not only represents an excellent example of the cooperation and tireless efforts exhibited by multiple law enforcement agencies but shows how accessible and pervasive illegal drugs and their trafficking continue to be.”
If convicted of the CPM 1st charge, Lucas faces up to eight years in prison. After being charged with the CPCS charges at his next court appearance Lucas faces up to an additional twelve years of incarceration for possessing the oxycodone and hydrocodone.
Scott and Glover both face up to four years in state prison if convicted of conspiracy in the fourth degree.
All of the defendants were arraigned by Town of Worcester Judge William J. Fisher. Lucas was remanded to the OCCF without bail due to his two previous felony convictions. Scott and Glover were sent to the OCCF on $25,000 and $5,000 bail respectively.
