New York Dentist Arrested For Narcotics Trafficking And Distribution Of Child Pornography
Defendant Charged with Conspiracy to Distribute Methamphetamine and Possession and Distribution of Child Pornography
NEW YORK - A criminal complaint was unsealed today in federal court in the Eastern District of New York charging John Wolf with conspiring to possess methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession and distribution of child pornography. The defendant was arrested earlier today at his residence, and his initial appearance is scheduled for this afternoon before United States Magistrate Judge Robert M. Levy at the U.S. Courthouse, 225 Cadman Plaza East, Brooklyn, New York.
The charges were announced by Robert L. Capers, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of New York, Diego Rodriguez, Assistant Director in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, New York Field Office, and James J. Hunt, Special Agent in Charge, Drug Enforcement Administration, New York.
As set forth in the complaint, the defendant, a Manhattan dentist, provided dental services to a drug dealer in exchange for methamphetamine, some of which the defendant would use personally and some of which he would distribute to others.
The defendant also used his dental office as a place to view and distribute child pornography. In recorded conversations with an FBI undercover agent, the defendant admitted that he possessed child pornography and provided the undercover agent with a flash drive containing files depicting child pornography, including videos of children as young as toddlers being raped by adult men.
DEA Special Agent in Charge James Hunt stated, “Drug investigations have taken us down dark roads before, but nothing darker than the office practices of Dr. Wolf. What began as a simple drug case quickly rerouted into an investigation into the alleged crimes committed by John Wolf; methamphetamine distribution and possession and distribution of child pornography. I commend the New York Drug Enforcement Task Force and the FBI Crimes against Children Unit for the exigent work on this ongoing investigation.”
United States Attorney Capers expressed his grateful appreciation to the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Drug Enforcement Administration, the agencies responsible for leading the investigation.
The charges in the complaint are merely allegations, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
The government’s case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Moira Kim Penza.
The Defendant:
Name: John Wolf
Age: 59
