Ocala man convicted of conspiring to distribute large quantities of cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl
OCALA, Fla., - A federal jury has found Kevin Gene Hart 31, Ocala guilty of conspiracy to distribute five kilograms or more of cocaine, one kilogram or more of heroin, and 400 grams or more of fentanyl. He faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 15 years, up to life, in federal prison. A sentencing hearing has been scheduled for Jan. 28, 2020. Hart was indicted on March 27, 2019.
According to testimony and evidence presented at trial, between January 2012 and May 2019, Hart conspired with others to distribute hundreds of kilograms of cocaine and heroin through a network of stash houses in Marion County. Large quantities of the heroin were also laced with fentanyl.
On April 10, 2019, after learning of his federal indictment, Hart fled from federal agents in a high-speed vehicle chase. He was apprehended by agents in Marion County on May 24, 2019, as he attempted to flee through a local business.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration Gainesville Resident Office, the Internal Revenue Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the City of Ocala Police Department, the Unified Drug Enforcement Strike Team, and the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney William S. Hamilton.
