St. Petersburg cocaine trafficker sentenced to more than 9 years’ imprisonment
TAMPA, Fla. - Mario D. Heatly (39, St. Petersburg) was sentenced to nine years and four months in federal prison for possessing 500 grams or more of cocaine with the intent to distribute it. Heatly had pleaded guilty on September 26, 2019.
According to court documents, law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at a storage unit that Heatly had been using and recovered almost a kilogram of cocaine, more than $16,000, a scale, and plastic bags. Subsequently, Heatly was arrested at a different storage unit. This unit also contained almost a kilogram of cocaine, scales, and plastic bags.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration Tampa District Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the St. Petersburg Police Department. It was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.
