“Dark Net” Trafficker Whose Fentanyl Caused Fatal Overdose Indicted
JUL 20 - (ORLANDO, Fla.) - Jeremy Achey, 43, of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, was indicted by a federal grand in Boynton Beach, Florida, with conspiracy to distribute and distribution of controlled substance analogues. If convicted on all counts, he faces a maximum penalty of life in federal prison.
According to court documents, operating under the name “Etiking,” Achey distributed various synthetic substances over the Dark Net, an area of the Internet only accessible through the use of an encrypted browsing platform. In February 2017, a victim in Orange County, Florida died after ingesting tetrahydrofuran fentanyl, a synthetic substance similar to fentanyl, purchased from Achey on the Dark Net.
This case was investigated by the DEA Central Florida Region, and will be prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office, Middle District of Florida.
