Cooperative Investigation Nets Record Methamphetamine Seizure In Pennsville
SALEM, N.J. - Salem County Prosecutor John T. Lenahan and Pennsville Police Chief Allen Cummings announce the arrest of an Oregon man and one of Salem County’s largest seizures of methamphetamine.
On September 2, 2014, Juan Martinez-(AKA: Rudy A. Figueroa-Alvarado), 33 of Madras, Oregon was arrested and charged with possession of controlled dangerous (methamphetamines) and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a quantity of greater than five ounces with the intent to distribute. The Pennsville Police and Salem County Prosecutors Office with assistance from the Drug Enforcement (DEA) Camden Resident Office received information that a large quantity of methamphetamines was being delivered to a subject on North Broadway in Pennsville Township. During the investigation, officers encountered Figueroa-Martinez operating 2008 Freightliner tractor trailer and were able to seize approximately six kilos of methamphetamines. Officials indicated that the drugs have an estimated street value of $169,000. During the arrest, all evidence was seized including the 2008 Freightliner Tractor trailer.
Carl J. Kotowski, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New Jersey Division stated “This investigation resulted in a very significant seizure of narcotics. We will continue to work with our law enforcement partners to keep this poison out of our communities.”
Salem County Prosecutor John T. Lenahan stated “this investigation by local, county and federal officers is a clear example of the success law enforcement can have when working collectively, it not only has an impact in Salem County but throughout the entire region.”
Chief Allen Cummings added “This was an outstanding investigation by all agencies. A large quantity of CDS has been removed from the streets.”
