DEA Philadelphia Field Division Assists The U.S. Secret Service During Pope Francis’ Visit To Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA - DEA special agents and Task Force Officers from the Philadelphia Field Division assisted the U.S. Secret Service with security for Pope Francis’ visit to Philadelphia for the World Meeting of Families conference on September 26th and 27th, 2015.
The DEA special agents worked along with the Philadelphia Police Department, the Pennsylvania State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Department of Homeland Security, and other law enforcement agencies to support the U.S. Secret Service’s protective mission.
This visit, which was Pope Francis’ first visit to the United States, included stops in Washington, DC and New York City prior to his arrival in Philadelphia on September 26th. During the visit, DEA special agents and Task Force Officers assisted the U.S. Secret Service at numerous security checkpoints throughout the city and with security during several parades that Pope Francis participated in around Independence Hall, City Hall, and along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway prior to the Pope’s open-air mass on September 27th.
