Methamphetamine Courier Pleads Guilty In Federal Court

FRESNO, Calif. - Luis Miguel Villalobos, of Fresno pleaded guilty today to possession of methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, Acting Special Agent in Charge Bruce C. Balzano and United States Attorney Benjamin B. Wagner announced.
According to court documents, on September 12, 2012, Villalobos was stopped by a California Highway (CHP) Officer for a traffic violation. Further investigation revealed approximately 6.5 pounds of methamphetamine in the vehicle Villalobos was driving.
This case is the product of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the CHP. Assistant United States Attorney Kevin P. Rooney is prosecuting the case.
Villalobos is scheduled to be sentenced by United States District Judge Lawrence J. O’Neill on November 12, 2013 at 8:30 a.m. He faces a maximum statutory penalty of life in prison. The actual sentence, however, will be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of any applicable statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables.
