Federal jury convicts Colorado man of transporting kilograms of methamphetamine through Albuquerque by bus

ALBUQUERQUE , N.M. - Jesus Francisco Fernandez, 59, of Pueblo. Colo., was convicted by a federal jury in Albuquerque last Wednesday of possession with intent to distribute more than 500 grams of methamphetamine.
According to court documents and trial testimony, Fernandez was riding a bus through Albuquerque on Oct. 25, 2017. He had more than three kilograms of methamphetamine hidden in a duffel bag. He also had a bus ticket in a false name.
Fernandez is currently in custody awaiting sentencing. He faces from 15 years to life in prison.
The Albuquerque office of the United States Drug Enforcement Administration investigated the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Sammy Hurtado is prosecuting the case.
