Georgia man convicted of conspiring to distribute methamphetamine
OCALA, Fla. – A federal jury today found Eric Pedro Valdez, 39, of Atlanta, guilty of conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of methamphetamine. He faces a minimum mandatory penalty of 10 years, and up to life, in federal prison. Valdez was indicted on Oct. 11, 2017.
According to testimony and evidence presented at trial, between November 2015 and May 2016, Valdez conspired with others to distribute more than 70 kilograms of methamphetamine. On March 23, 2016, Valdez hand-delivered four kilograms of methamphetamine to two co-conspirators at a business in the Atlanta- area. The methamphetamine was intended for distribution in Sumter County.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office. It is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney William S. Hamilton.
