Hartford Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Crack Distribution Charge
HARTFORD, CT. - Steven W. Derr, Special Agent in Charge of the Drug Enforcement Administration for New England and David B. Fein, United States Attorney for the District of Connecticut, announced that TERRELL HUNTER, 29, of Hartford, pleaded guilty today before United States District Judge Janet C. Hall in Hartford to one count of possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of cocaine (“crack cocaine”).
According to court documents and statements made in court, on June 18, 2009, HUNTER possessed with intent to distribute more than 2.2 kilograms of crack cocaine.
Judge Hall has scheduled sentencing for July 25, 2011, at which time HUNTER faces a mandatory minimum term of imprisonment of 10 years, a maximum term of life imprisonment and a fine of up to $4 million.
HUNTER has been detained since his arrest on June 18, 2009.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Hartford Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Brian Leaming and Jonathan Freimann.
The Project Safe Neighborhoods Initiative is aimed at reducing gun and gang violence, deterring illegal possession of guns, and improving the safety of residents of Connecticut’s cities. Participants in the initiative include community members and organizations as well as federal, state and local law enforcement agencies.
