Wauchula Man Sentenced To More Than 24 Years For Cocaine Distribution
TAMPA, Fla. - Mark R. Trouville, Special Agent in Charge, Drug Enforcement (DEA), Miami Field Division, and Robert E. O’Neill, United States Attorney for the Middle District of Florida, announced yesterday that U.S. District Judge Susan C. Bucklew sentenced Juan Ramirez, Jr. (40, Wauchula) to 24 years and 3 months in federal prison for his role in a conspiracy to distribute cocaine. As part of his sentence, Ramirez is also ordered to forfeit a number of tractor-trailers, as well as pay a money judgment of $3,000,000.00. Ramirez pled guilty on July 9, 2012.
According to the plea agreement, as part of the conspiracy, Ramirez orchestrated the transportation of multiple quantities of cocaine from Mexico, through Texas, to the Middle District of Florida. During the course of the conspiracy, 25 kilograms of cocaine was seized in Wharton County, Texas, in August, 2011. At the time of his arrest, Ramirez admitted to transporting various drugs from the Southwest border on multiple occasions. Ramirez had made between three and four million dollars trafficking drugs and laundered these proceeds through his business - R & R Trucking of Fort Meade, LLC.
This case was investigated by the DEA Orlando District Office, Polk County Sheriff's Office, and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
