DEA & FBI Host Screening Of Chasing The Dragon For Local Educators To Combat Prescription Opioid And Heroin Epidemic

PHILADELPHIA - DEA Assistant Special Agent in Charge David Cali and Federal Bureau of Investigation Special Agent in Charge William F. Sweeney hosted a screening of Chasing the Dragon: The Life on an Opiate Addict for local educators and media representatives at the William J. Green Federal Building in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This documentary, which was released jointly by the DEA and FBI in February of this year, is aimed at educating young people on the dangers of addiction to prescription opioids and heroin.
Chasing the Dragon is a compilation of heart-wrenching first-person accounts by addicts and family members of addicts about their experiences. Copies of the documentary, which is targeted at educating high school students and young adults, were provided to each of the attendees to share with their respective school districts and media outlets at the conclusion of the event. In an effort to stimulate discussion in schools, this 45-minute documentary comes with a corresponding study guide meant to assist teachers presenting the documentary in classrooms.
Those wishing to obtain a copy of Chasing the Dragon may do so by contacting DEA Public Information Officer/Special Agent Patrick J. Trainor at patrick.j.trainor@usdoj.gov or by downloading the documentary for free at www.dea.gov.
