Jacksonville heroin dealer sentenced to five years in federal prison
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Albert Vincent Hicks, 48, of Jacksonville, was sentenced to five years in federal prison for distributing heroin. Hicks pleaded guilty on August 21, 2019.
According to court documents, on October 26, 2017, Hicks sold more than 25 grams of heroin to a confidential informant. On November 16, 2017, he sold an additional 13 grams of heroin. During the second sale, Hicks discussed the possibility of a future, larger deal with the informant. As a repeat offender, with a prior conviction for sale of cocaine, Hicks was subject to enhanced penalties under federal law.
This case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration Jacksonville District Office and the Fernandina Beach Police Department. It was prosecuted by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Florida.
