Overland Park, Kansas, man indicted for fentanyl distribution, illegal firearm
KANSAS CITY, Kan. –Anthony Contreras, 22, Overland Park, Kan., is charged with one count of unlawful possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, one count of distributing fentanyl and one count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. The crimes are alleged to have occurred July 22, 2020, in Wyandotte County, Kan.
If convicted, he could face a penalty of not less than 20 years and a fine up to $1 million on the charge of distributing fentanyl; not less than five years and a fine up to $250,000 on the charge of possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking; and up to 10 years and a fine up to $250,000 on the other firearm charge. The Drug Enforcement Administration St. Louis Division, Kansas City District Office, investigated.
In all cases, defendants are presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty. The indictments merely contain allegations of criminal conduct.
