DEA 360 Maine Announce DEA Educational Foundation Youth Dance Program
PORTLAND, ME – DEA New England Division Special Agent in Charge Brian D. Boyle announced that DEA 360 Maine in partnership with local coalitions and schools will be launching FREE after school youth dance programs in Maine starting in February. DEA 360 Strategy in Maine kicked off in December 2020 to provide lasting impact in communities by partnering with local government agencies, community organizations, schools, Drug Free Coalitions and law enforcement.
The dance programs will be offered through the DEA Educational Foundation Youth Dance Program. The DEA YDP was created to empower youths by providing a free and positive after school alternative to drugs through the fun, healthy and expressive art form of dance. The program curriculum will incorporate drug free life themes and messages such as participating in positive alternatives to drugs and gang violence, building self-esteem, teamwork and resilience.
The classes will include Hip Hop style of dance to appropriate musical choices. Start dates vary by location but they will all start right after the February school break and will be either 10-week or 20-week sessions depending on the school district. Any interested middle school students in Rumford/Mexico, Windham or Portland may register through contacts listed below.
